Sandra (Sandi) P. Hirst

Sandra (Sandi) P. Hirst BScN, MSc(NEd), PhD is an Associate Professor Emerita, University of Calgary. She worked as a registered nurse in both acute and long-term care settings before moving to Calgary to accept a position in the Faculty of Nursing. Sandi has held a number of leadership positions included President, Canadian Association on Gerontology; President, Canadian Gerontological Nursing Association; and National Chair, Canadian Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse. She also completed a three -year appointment as a member of the National Seniors Council. Sandi is committed to promoting older persons’ well-being and to educate those who work with them through research and publications. She continues to be an active volunteer in several local and national associations.
