Vancouver - October 2025
The Canadian Coalition Against Ageing (CCAA) in partnership with the International Longevity Centre Canada (ILC Canada) hosted a panel discussion and workshop was also in Vancouver in October 2025.
There were 150 in person and 50 on-line participants from across British Columbia; 80% female and over 60% of which were older women. The panel discussion focus was on what ageism is, how and where it manifests, the impacts on older people in our society and in particular older women, and tools to address ageism.
The presentation included definition of ageism, the different types of ageism – self-directed (internalized), interpersonal and institutional, how and where it can manifest and the detrimental impacts of ageism.
